Storytime at the Castle

Bring the kiddos to the American Swedish Institute  (2600 Park Avenue in Minneapolis) for storytime and have the run of the Castle.

Storytime at the Castle is held on the third Friday of each month at 11 a.m. Admission is just $5 per family - WHAT A STEAL! Before the museum opens, join ASI for visual play, storytelling, music, and movement inspired by ASI's exhibits that will encourage creative young minds. Its recommended for ages 2-5. Registration not required; check in at the Information Desk by 11 a.m. on the day of the program. Adult accompaniment required.

In October, we searched high and low for trees with fall leaves on them, exploring all 3 levels of the Castle. As the kids looked for trees, I enjoyed viewing the beautiful textiles on display. We read a few autumn-themed books, and then the kids made a felt leaf necklace.

Don't miss heading up to the kids area on the third floor. It's amazing! It's like you're in a treehouse. Right now the area is set up to feature the Nordic children's author of "Moomin", so the kiddos can read those books, see the cartoons, and try drawing themselves. There is also a play kitchen and more.

Before the selfie... there was the self-portrait

Also, be sure to check out the fun outdoor play items on the lawn, if you have time.

We got the nibbles while we were there, so we tasted the fantastic Swedish food at Fika. Yum!
